BANNISTER CREEK NUTRIENT INTERVENTION WORK

Lynwood

The aim of the project, from Metcalf Road to Hibiscus Road, was to restore this section of Bannister Creek and encourage it to act as a living stream. DWA supplied an innovative design which transformed a highly-degraded natural water course into a living stream.

The project involved the re-designing and re-vegetating of existing steep banks, in addition to the installation of jute matting and replanting using dense sedge around the riffle structures. By installing riffle structures, the channel flow velocities were reduced and the water ponded to create flood plain areas which were planted with fringing vegetation.
